Bala Mohammed announces N30,000 minimum wage for Bauchi workers


The governor of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday, January 1, surprised workers in the state by announcing that his government has approved the new minimum wage of N30,000. The announcement was confirmed in a statement by Alhaji Mohammed Baba, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the government also announced that the approval is with immediate effect. This means that its implementation would commence on January 1, 2020. “The executive governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Mohammad, has received the report of the committee of the state joint Public service council on the implementation of the national minimum wage of N30,000 as set by the federal government.

Government has accordingly approved the payment of the thirty thousand naira as minimum wage for employees in the state with effect from 1st January, 2020,” the statement said.
