My election brought peace to Alaba –Mbonu, chair, Fancy and Furniture

Fancy and Furniture has acquired the reputation as the bad leg of Alaba International Market because from time, its election has been characterized with violence and bloodshed.

However, the members of the association seem to have grown up because the election that brought the current executive Chairman, Hon. Mbonu, Udochukwu Godfrey was credible, free and fair and this has brought peace and tranquility in the market

In this interview, Mbonu said that the association because of its strategic location is the gateway to Alaba International Market, adding that whatever affects Fancy and Furniture rubs off on the entire market. Excerpts:

Fancy and Furniture has been notorious for violence, what do you think is the cause?

After I was elected into office, I sat back and tried to find out why our association has been noted with violence. From the research that I conducted, I discovered that a lot of the miscreants that were used by the leaders of the association in the past have quietly infiltrated the market as members and settled down, though without any serious thing that they are doing. You know that a tiger can hardly change its colour.

It is this miscreants that are still fomenting trouble in the market. I have made this known to the security agencies like the Police and DSS to assist us in flushing these criminal elements out of the market and they are doing this quietly. The Alaba Amalgamated Task Force also comes on a regular routine check and this is also yielding result.

That is why we now have peace in the market. However, there is another group that has formed a Whatsapp group with the intention of spreading wicked and malicious information against the leadership of the market and even the government.

The type of fake news that they are spreading has the capacity to cause breakdown of law and order, not only in the market, but in the country as a whole.

The elders council has warned them to stop this forthwith and I want to use this medium to let the world know that the message that they are spreading is not the position of Fancy and Furniture Dealers Association or Alaba International Market. I am appealing to the police and the other security agencies to trace, arrest and deal with them decisively.

You have been in office for few months now, what are your achievements?

Well, I started by renovating our secretariat. We have given it a face-lift. We have bought 25KVA generator to power the air conditioners in the secretariat. We have installed CCTV in the secretariat as a way of beefing up the security in the market. We also have in mind to install CCTV in all the strategic places in the market.

We have erected new gates to help the night guards and also want to put solar powered lights in all the strategic places to assist the night guards. When we were campaigning, we promised that we would run a transparent and accountable administration and since we come on board, every money that belongs to the association is being paid into the association’s account. These are just a little of the things that we hope to do for our people.

Do you need any assistance from the government?

Yes, a saying has it that to whom much is given, much is expected. Alaba  International is the biggest source of revenue for Ojo local  government. In fact, Alaba generates over 80 per cent of the revenue of Ojo local government. But we are not getting anything in commensurate to what we are giving.

Street traders have made the major road into the market impassable to vehicles. If you ask the street traders to leave the road, they would say that they are paying the local government, the Oba or the Baale, therefore, they would not leave the road.

This is affecting our business a lot because it can take you more than three hours to drive from Volkswagen bus stop to Alaba. So, we are appealing to the Council to chase the street traders away from the road. We are also appealing to them to build an industrial borehole for those who are cooking the food that we are eating in the market to avoid outbreak of diseases.

There is no clean water in the market .We have a site where it can be located .We are also in need of standard toilets and bathrooms because this is an international market. Another thing is that the drainage behind Fancy and Furniture to Alabarago is filled up. Ojo local government should help us to clean it for free flow of water and other things.

What advice do you have for the traders?

The advice that I have for them is to try to be law abiding. There are people who eat through crisis. They should avoid such people. Election into the executive of Fancy and Furniture has come and gone and those who lost should wait for another election time instead of trying to cause trouble in the market.

I want to use this medium to appeal to the police and the DSS to be on the alert for the trouble shooters in the market. We have zero tolerance for crisis in the market. We are very responsible men and women and those who want to be outlaws, the law enforcement agencies should try to be helping us in taking them to where they belong.

Wives of murdered Nigerian soldiers have kicked against the release of Boko Haram insurgents on the grounds of perceived repentance.

Soldiers Kick Against Release of Repentant Boko Haram Insurgents

The wives under the aegis of Military Widows Association have expressed their anger at the Federal government for releasing insurgents who are responsible for the death of their husbands and many other Nigerians including women and children.

Mrs. Edith Opesanmi, Vice President of the Association made this known at the ‘Support Our Troops Foundation’ in Abuja. She decried the decision of the federal government to replicate the Militant Amnesty programme with Boko Haram terrorists. According to her, the terrorists should be treated as the criminals that they are and not enjoy preferential treatment knowing how they murdered gallant soldiers in cold blood.

The Herald recalls that FG has released over 2000 Boko Haram insurgents who have murdered Nigerians, beheaded Christians, kidnapped and raped young girls, carried out suicide bomb attacks with thousands of casualties through a rehabilitation programme codenamed Operation Safe Corridor. However, this does not augur well for the military widows who believe their husbands sacrificed their lives in vain since their killers are walking freely in the society.

“They (terrorists) should face justice. You know they are involved in the killing and maiming of soldiers. So, whenever they are arrested, they should be punished like any other criminal.

“We widows feel bad about it. Our husbands go to fight these terrorists and keep dying. The number of widows is increasing daily. Some of these widows are young ladies”

Mike Ejiofor, former Director at the Department of State Services also faulted the FG for the timing of the release of the insurgents. He stated that it was wrong of FG to release the evil perpetrators when the war against them was still ongoing.

Ejiofor saying “Ideally, it is after the war has been fought and won that you can release those ones that have been rehabilitated and deradicalized”

We have broken ties with Yoruba nation, we will crush Amotekun – Fulani leaders

The controversy surrounding the creation of a security outfit for the South West, Amotekun, continues to grow. The one group which feels will be targeted the most by the outfit has denounced the outfit once more. In a statement released by it’s national president, Muhammad Kitowa, Nigeria’s cattle breeders association said that the association was severing ties with the Yoruba nation for going ahead with their Amotekun Security Network.

Kirowa speaking at Abuja says that the association and it’s affiliates will cease to support the political ambitions of the Yoruba people, saying that the much debated Amotekun Security Network was formed to disrupt cattle herders.

He said “We cannot be supporting those who are against us. The only reason for forming Amotekun is Fulani people, to drive us away from their land.

Tell me are we not all Nigerians?I have seen that the Amotekun boys have been armed. If they are armed, we have no choice than to arm cattlemen because they need to protect themselves from the danger which Amotekun will pose to them.

They cannot reject Ruga and also reject open grazing, they must choose one. All I can tell you now is that they are pushing us too far. They are really pushing us to the walls. We have held meetings with relevant government agencies and they promised to look into the issue.

How can they go ahead with Amotekun when the police issued them notice to stop? How can they ignore the President’s directive? I see that there is an evil motive behind this security network.

I heard they have also endowed them with charms to kill our cows. For any cow killed, their government will pay double for it. For every Fulani herdsman killed, violence will erupt. We have been oppressed for too long. It’s time to tell Yoruba people that we are not cowards and by Allah’s power, we will crush Amotekun and crush all their evil plots against the Fulani race.” He added.

Miyeti Allah Claims Being Responsible for Plateau Killings.

The Killings In Plateau – Statement By The Fulani Nationality Movement, (Funam) – We Remain Solid And Unshaken By The Wind

Our attention has been drawn to the series of campaigns being waged against the FULANI NATIONALITY following the killings in PLATEAU where some civilians who have been tormenting the FULANI nation were justifiable hacked down; Why is it convenient for Nigerians to condemn the killings of Birom but fail to condemn the killings of Fulani people? We frown at the conscious attempts to demonize the FULANI nation by the media and their collaborators; We wish to make the following categorical statements on the Plateau incidence:

1) The killings in Barkin Ladi was motivated by previous killings of FULANI men and women by Birom youths in collaboration with certain minority ethnic groups in PLATEAU. We hereby justify this retaliatory attacks and warn that we shall continue to defend ourselves and uphold the FULANI heritage now and in the future. Let it be known that the Fulani Special Force coordinated the attacks; For the avoidance of doubt, our heritage is that ANY ATTACK ON A SINGLE FULANI IS AN ATTACK ON ALL. ANY OF SUCH ATTACKS MUST BE COUNTERED WITH TRIPLE MEASURE.

2) That apart from stealing hundreds of cows belonging to FULANI, these criminal elements also set ablaze several houses belonging to peaceful FULANI natives across the entire territories in Barkin Ladi and Plateau.

3)That we have said it several times that Plateau is an indigenous territory of the FULANI people. We are the first to settle in Plateau-Benue axis thousands of years ago. We shall take and posses every inch of this land; A conscious attempt to rewrite history and distort, manipulate or destroy our past will be resisted with all the might at our disposal.

4) That there is a clear agenda to divide Nigeria and exterminate the FULANI people. We are long aware of this plot. We call on FULANI all over Africa to prepare for this inevitable war and set our people on an offensive path rather than being weaklings that choose a defensive strategy in warfare.

5) We have said it over and over, that Nigeria is the only inhertrance we have in Africa and anywhere in the world. This land belongs to us, from Sokoto to the banks of the Atlantic Ocean. This was the destiny bestowed on Uthman Dan Fodio which would have been fulfilled since 1816 if not for the obstruction of this great assignment by the British. It is no longer time to play the ostrish. Our men are waiting. We are eager to fight. We are boiling with the zeal to actualize our dream; enough of double dealing and ambivalence by FULANI political leaders who unfortunately think the FULANI can only take back what belongs to us through appeasement and elections destined to reflect cultural values antithetical to the preachings of Uthman Dan Fodio.

6) We warn that nothing will be able to save those raising their voices against us and Allah. Nothing will be left behind, from the East, West and Middle Belt except those who accept the creation of Allah and the leadership place of Fulani in fulfilling this destiny. Since this irresponsible Western notion of democracy was imposed, the Fulani have been shortchanged and maligned. The Middle-Belt, the West and the East should be prepared. We are already here.

7) Let the Birom and the ethnic minority invaders in the entire Middle Belt leave our territory or be prepared to accept our ways of live. It is time for them to savour their wounds. It is just the beginning. Many more will come and nothing can stop us.

7) Insha Allah, we shall take this battle across the sea, on the land, in the air, on the mountains, in every territory currently occupied by the Kafirs. This is our position. This is our destiny. For those who think they can stop or continue to conspire against us, we wish them good luck.

The Imo Women had described the decision of the Nigerian Supreme Court as a shame to the Nigerian Judiciary and to democracy.
The Imo women cries that they are not in tandem with the decision of the Nigerian Supreme court of 14th January, 2020; a judgement that upturned the mandate freely and democratically given to Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON of the PDP as the Governor of Imo State.
An Advocate speaks on behalf of Imo state women :-

“The good women of Imo State therefore calls on the well meaning Nigerians and the International Communities who thinks well for Democratic governance to as a matter of urgency call on the Supreme court to immediate order and save our dying democracy.”

“Nigerian Judiciary is now a rubber stamp of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) whose principles of leadership has been on the basis of divide and rule.
The Imo Women reiterates their unflinching support to the government of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and therefore vows to always support him in his move to restore his stolen mandate through any legal setting in the world.”

“We received with rude shock how that mandate was stolen and these we resist with all our mights and therefore vow not to succumb to any form of intimidation;
Our consolation is that there are provisions to wit, we can reclaim our mandate from the vultures and men of no integrity, and so we ask the Supreme Court to Overrule its repugnant judgment against our active and responsive Governor Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha (Onye Mega Nke Anyi Huru Anya)”

In Adegoke Motors Ltd. v. Adesanya[1989] 13 NWLR (Pt.109) 250 at page 275A Justice Oputa* also known as the Socrates of the Supreme Court considered the powers of the Supreme Court (as the final Court in the land) to review its earlier decisions and said:

“We are final not because we are infallible; rather we are infallible because we are final. Justices of this Court are human-beings, capable of erring. It will certainly be short sighted arrogance not to accept this obvious truth. It is also true that this Court can do inestimable good through its wise decisions. Similarly, the Court can do incalculable harm through its mistakes. When therefore it appears to learned counsel that any decision of this Court has been given per incuriam, such counsel should have the boldness and courage to ask that such a decision be over-ruled. This Court has the power to over-rule itself (and has done so in the past) for it gladly accepts that it is far better to admit an error than to persevere in error”

“We also charge you get any legal backing from any international court of law to appeal this illegal judgement of the Nigerian Supreme Court as we assure you of our resolve to improve Imo State Governance with our Rebuild Imo Agenda.”

“God bless Imo women! God bless Imo State!! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria as they BRING BACK EMEKA IHEDIOHA”

Man Arrested For Threatening To Kill President Trump Over The Killing Of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani

A Florida man identified as Chauncy Lump has been arrested by the police for threatening to kill President Donald Trump over the death of Iranian top military officer who was killed by a US air strike ordered by Donald Trump. The 26-year-old security guard, a native of Fort Lauderdale went live on Facebook over the weekend and threatened to kill the US President as retaliation for the U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani last week.In a live video he uploaded on Facebook, Lump issued several threats and angrily wrote that “He killed my leader, please tell me where is Donald Trump?” and “I need to find the Donald because if I don’t find him, I am going to have to blow up Broward County”. During the video, Lump showed a loaded AK-47 semi-automatic rifle.Minutes after Trump announced last week that a U.S. airstrike had killed Qassem Soleimani in Iraq in retaliation for plotting numerous terrorist attacks, Agent Lucas White disclosed that Lump under the name “BlackMan vs. America” began livestreaming a seven-minute video on Facebook. In the video, agent Lucas say Lump made several threats against the president, who was staying at his Mar-a-Lago club, less than an hour away. When confronted early Saturday at his home, Lump admitted producing the video in response to Soleimani’s death, but said it was a joke. But nowhere in the video did Lump say he was joking and conceded, “I should not have did it in the first place,” White wrote. The security guard now faces federal charges of threatening to kill the president and remained jailed Thursday on $100,000 bond, according to court documents filed this week by the Secret Service.
